DVSA scheme

DVSA earned recognition operators

Earned recognition is DVSA’s voluntary scheme for operators who prove they meet driver and vehicle standards. Members run a DVSA-validated system for maintenance and drivers’ hours, pass an independent audit every two years, and in return see fewer roadside stops and site visits. This is DVSA’s list updated 1 October 2026, tied to each operator licence and grouped by traffic area.

What is earned recognition?

Earned recognition is DVSA’s scheme for operators who prove, with audited data, that they keep vehicles roadworthy and drivers within the rules. 200 companies are on the list. Their 461 listed licences are 0.7% of GB operator licences but authorise 82,563 vehicles: 12% of all vehicles authorised.

The list leans to large fleets: 9% of the lorries authorised on GB goods licences sit on a listed licence. Members send DVSA key performance data every four weeks and pass an independent audit every two years.

By traffic area

Each listed licence sits in the traffic area that issued it (the second letter of the licence number). Open an area for its companies, licences, accreditation dates and standards.

About this list

DVSA publishes the list of accredited operators on GOV.UK, one row per operator licence. We tie each row to its licence in the DVSA operator licence file by licence number. When a listed licence number is not in the file, we match the company by its exact name instead. 1 row of 468 could not be tied to a licence or company in the file.

Membership is DVSA’s decision, not ours. Earned recognition members have a blue band in DVSA’s Operator Compliance Risk Score. Sole traders and partnerships on the list are counted, not named, because their operator name is usually a person’s name.
