Traffic Commissioner notices

Applications and Decisions

Applications and Decisions is the weekly bulletin each Traffic Commissioner publishes for goods vehicle operators: new applications and the objection deadline, grants, refusals, variations, operating centre transfers, public inquiries and licences revoked, surrendered or terminated. We read every issue since 1 January 2026 and show it by traffic area, each row linked to its GOV.UK PDF.

The latest issues for the eight traffic areas, published up to 5 October 2026, list 101 new goods vehicle licence applications and 101 licences granted; the busiest is East of England (issue 5607, 23 new applications).

How to read Applications and Decisions

Each traffic area publishes its own issue, usually every week, with a number and a date. A new application appears first under applications received. Statutory objectors (the police, local authorities and some trade bodies and unions) can object within 21 days of publication; the issue prints that objection deadline. The decision follows in a later issue, as a grant or a refusal.

Bus and coach (PSV) operators appear in a separate weekly bulletin, Notices and Proceedings, which we read in the same way: their grants are in new operator licences. Public inquiries listed in either bulletin are on upcoming public inquiries; licences revoked, surrendered or terminated have their own monthly lists at licences revoked, surrendered or terminated.

Companies are named. Sole traders and partnerships are counted, not named, because their operator name is usually a person’s name.
