About

A clear reading of a public file

Freight forwarders, shippers and compliance teams check that the hauliers they use hold the right operator licence. The data is public, but it comes as eight large spreadsheets that change every week. HaulierScope turns it into one page per licence, with its history.

What we do

We read each operator licence file DVSA publishes as open data, covering every goods vehicle and bus and coach operator licence in the UK (Great Britain). The newest file we hold is dated 7 September 2026 and lists 69,122 licences. We keep a dated copy of every file and compare each one with the one before, so you can see when a licence changed, not only what it says today.

Looking up a licence is free and needs no account. Monitoring, a paid service for businesses, watches a list of operators and emails you when a new file shows a change.

What we are not

We are an independent service. We are not affiliated with DVSA or the Traffic Commissioners, and nothing here is the official register. When a decision depends on a licence, confirm it with the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.

How we treat personal data

About one licence in five belongs to a sole trader or partnership, so the operator name is a person’s name. We never store or show directors, partners, transport managers or correspondence addresses. Sole trader and partnership pages are kept out of search engines and show the town and postcode district only. Anyone named on a licence can ask us to withhold it. Read the privacy notice and the methodology.
