Dissolved companies still on the operator licence file

Companies that Companies House shows as dissolved while an operator licence for them is still in the DVSA file. We list a company only after checking it at Companies House by company number and by name.

No company is listed yet

Every entry needs a check at Companies House by company number and by name, and that check is not running yet. We do not list a company as dissolved just because its number is missing from Companies House’s file of live companies: the number on a licence record can be mistyped, can lack a prefix such as SC, or can belong to a council or other body.

What the register shows

Dissolved
Companies House shows the company as dissolved: it no longer exists as a legal person. We list a company here only when Companies House reports that status for the company number on the licence record and the name Companies House holds for that number matches the operator name. A number that is simply missing from Companies House’s file of live companies is not enough: DVSA numbers can be mistyped, can lack a prefix such as SC, or can belong to a council or other body.

Why a licence can still be listed

The DVSA operator licence file and the Companies House register are separate public registers, updated on their own timetables. A licence stays in the DVSA file (here, the file dated 7 September 2026) until the Traffic Commissioner records a change, so the two can differ for a while. What happens to a licence is a matter for the Traffic Commissioner.

This page reports what the registers show on their dates. It is not a finding about any operator or its conduct. If a company here is yours and something is wrong, or you want to add a statement, use the link on its row.

Sole traders and partnerships have no company record and are not part of this list.
